About the Vancouver Ultimate League Society
Ultimate has long history in Vancouver. Organized teams began forming in the early-80's, and the VUL started in 1986. By 1990, there were 12 teams in the league. After explosive growth through the 90's, reaching 190 teams by 2000, the VULS was incorporated as a non-profit society in that year.
Who We Are
We have about 4000 active members who play in one or more leagues throughout the year. We host numerous clinics and introductory programs for new players, and support a number of elite touring teams who compete in provincial, national and international championships.
The VULS is governed by a 7-person volunteer Board of Directors. The Board is responsible for setting the long-term priorities, objectives and policies for the Society. Directors are elected at the Annual General Meeting every fall.
The Society is managed by 2 paid staff. Staff design and implement programs to meet objectives set by the Board. The Executive Director is responsible for external relations, finances, program definition and general management. The League Coordinator is responsible for internal relations, program implementation and day-to-day operations.
Get Involved
The board and staff rely on an active membership to keep the society healthy and help Ultimate thrive in Vancouver. There are numerous ways to get involved through paid and volunteer activities.
